More about Borat

Sacha Baron Cohen has done an interview with Rolling Stone...as himself! Cohen has done all of his other public interviews as Borat, the character from his movie "Borat!: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan". An article on Reuters.com talks about Cohen defending his character and the movie.

"I think part of the movie shows the absurdity of holding any form of racial prejudice, whether it's hatred of African-Americans or of Jews," said Baron Cohen, a devout Jew who keeps kosher and the Sabbath when he can."

"Cambridge-educated Baron Cohen said his parents "love" the Jewish humor in Borat and his 91-year-old maternal grandmother even went to a midnight screening in Israel then phoned to compliment him."

Cohen did not make a racist movie, he made a movie that makes fun of racism. Part of the controversy may just be arising because it is such a real and uncomfortable subject. Clearly his intentions are not heinous.

I fond it funny that the frat boys in the film are suing now. They waited for the film to be number one for 2 weeks before they filed suit. It made $26.5 Million dollars opening weekend. I doubt they would be suing if the movie flopped.

If you have seen Cohen's "Da Ali G Show" on HBO you probably knew about Borat before the movie. Due to the success of Borat, Cohen was able to sign a deal for a second movie. This movie would be about another character from the show, Bruno. Bruno is a gay Australian fasionista. The movie will probably be less offensive but still hilarious.
